Understanding soccer drills for goalkeepers
Soccer, is derived from association football, and can help to recognize the universal game from football as known in the U.S..
People have joined together to knock a ball about for generations. The rules, for the game as we know it, were formulated in England halfway
through the nineteenth century. Earlier to this the game had a fairly tarnished and wild reputation, to the degree that it was banned, now and
then, by the monarch.
From such extraordinary roots, this game of soccer has grown in popularity, to turn into the giant it is today. World football has evolved
into a vast sporting conglomerate. The most famous of the professionals, are engaged by football clubs which are well known, and operate as big
business organisations. The sport has pulled in rich and famous men as chairmen, and top players and managers, receive payments corresponding
with pop singers and movie stars.
This situation has happened, not only from spectators flooding through turnstiles into massive arenas, but from multimedia exposure, where
fortunes are paid for the right of transmitting matches and tournaments. Starting from the thirties, the major award, the Jules Rimet Trophy, has
been won in almost equal measure by South American and European teams. However, brilliant players are emerging from other continents, Asia,
Australia, Africa,, and surprisingly the United States, helped along by their hosting of this major tournament.
Global soccer is a mammoth enterprise. From turnstile money to media rights, sponsor deals to replica football clothing, a big empire has
developed. Schoolboys and grown men, want to dress in the strips of their favorite clubs or players. They dribble balls around in playgrounds,
public parks, waste ground and in traffic free streets. Young people aim to develop that additional bit of talent, which could push them into a
world of wealth and adoration. Nearly all will go on, to other things, but sometimes a boy wonder will come along, and astonish the sporting
community, with a talent that will be revered.
