Facts about shot on goal soccer rules

Although people have joined together to knock a ball about for ages, the game of football or international soccer was subjected to rules in England in the 19th century. Nowadays, the international body known as FIFA, governs the beautiful game.

Although football has working class roots, there is more to the game than a newcomer might initially believe. Basically a football match comprises of eleven members who contest against one another on a pitch, measuring around 100 yards long X 50 yards wide. The principle of the game is to score goals by driving the ball into the opponents goal, which is an area measuring 7.3 meters wide X 2.4 meters high. Opposing teams comprise of defenders, midfielders, and attackers. One of the defenders is called the goalkeeper, who is the only member of a team who is allowed to use his hands to prevent the ball from entering the net.

The phenomenon that is football is a great deal more than a game, with wide commercial and cultural ramifications. Until fairly recently, it was the turnstiles that were to the fore in producing the cash to sustain the clubs, but in recent years there have been radical changes that have developed football into a global entertainment colossus. Large sums of money are concerned in media deals, which has encouraged the massive increase of stay at home spectators. However, millions still pass through the turnstiles to watch their favorites. Many sports have become big business, within which there is nothing bigger than global football.

Global soccer has built up respect for all nations, but that hasn't been devoid of some problems, along the way. Football players of all ethnic groups have become acclaimed as the stars they are, when they have transferred to teams in other continents. Major players from Asia, Europe, South America, Australia, Africa the United States are almost legendary, and they are regularly transferred between clubs on the international circuit. Fortunately this has achieved a great deal in breaking down bigoted race related behaviour.

There is no easy answer as to why global soccer has expanded to be the sporting enterprise it has become. It is astonishing that squads of eleven footballers, kicking a ball about for 90 minutes, with a half time break in the middle, attract such passionate consideration. Perhaps it is because there are young men, and sometimes young women, in the prime of their lives, who through their athleticism, show off excitement in a game that people have played at college and beyond. It provides an opportunity, to wonder what might have been, if only you had thought about sport as a career!
