Consider famous soccer players in South America
As sports fans will be aware, Association Football, which is otherwise known as soccer, or more usually football, is the game with the most
international support. North America have their own national game also called football or American football which is entirely different. However,
they do participate in soccer as well, but not with the enthusiasm they connect to their national style. Even though attempts have been made to
develop the global game in their country, so far they haven't proved to be wholly successful, but it would be wonderful if they joined their
South American neighbors.
It would be easy to oversimplify football, and the function of football players, but the game requires perpetual practice. For this reason top
footballers are stars, and the best of them can earn salaries that amount to millions of dollars per year. Rivalry to reach the necessary
competency is extreme, but there are numerous examples of talented children from poor surroundings, progressing to become top class footballers.
It is a fact though, that those that do make the highest grade, to earn the millions, are something like one in a million, and the big majority
will end up as supporters.
Football is a big player in the entertainment business, and has far reaching financial and social interests. Until fairly recently, it was
entrance receipts that were responsible for producing the funds to support the clubs, but in recent years there have been substantial changes
that have developed soccer into a global entertainment business. Vast amounts of money are concerned in media contracts, which has encouraged the
expansive increase of armchair viewers. However, millions still travel to watch their favorites. Most sports have become large commercial
undertakings, within which nothing outsells global football.
Sport in general, and football in particular, has done a great deal to improve international relationships. It is reported that there are some
teams, in the English Premier League, that have picked teams completely comprised of overseas players. The main thing for most supporters, isn't
where a player was born, but his talent. The more accomplished a player becomes, the more sought after he is by clubs big enough, and
sufficiently wealthy to afford his wage demands. Fortunately highly skilled players continue to emerge from all over the globe.
Once upon a time, boxing was amongst few sports, that offered an avenue of opportunity, to escape from hopeless destitution. You may consider
that football has assumed that mantle, and even though very few contenders finish up as professional footballers, they exceed those who succeed
as boxers. From Europe to South America, Australia, and elsewhere, kids from poor backgrounds group together for football training. Some could be
discovered as being outstandingly talented, and will be rewarded with rich living standards, to become icons, of the sporting world.
