There is much more to football than meets the eye, as it has broad financial and social interests. Previously, it was the turnstiles that were
responsible for acquiring the money to finance the clubs, but more recently there have been radical changes that have developed football into a
international leisure colossus. Large sums of money are involved in television contracts, which has stimulated the expansive development of stay
at home spectators. However, millions still attend football grounds to cheer on their favorites. Nearly all sports have become big business,
within which nothing outsells global soccer.
International football has built up respect for all nations, but it has not been without some difficulties, during the process. Football players
from all ethnic groups have become acclaimed entirely on merit, when they have transferred to clubs in other continents. Major players from
Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, Africa and the United States are idolized, and they are frequently transferred between clubs on the
international circuit. Fortunately this has done much in eliminating narrow-minded racial attitudes.
Youngsters, aspire to acquire that extra piece of ability, which will propel them into a world of riches, and recognition. Many will settle for
different things, but very occasionally a young protégé will surface, and daze the sporting world with a flair that will be richly remunerated,
in the name of the fantastic game of football.
